Christmas 2010

Aiden celebrated Christmas this year as nearly a two year old! He didn't care about wrapped or bagged gifts. He liked the ones left out with easy access. :)

Aiden has started talking over the last month. He says everything now. An example dialogue from this morning:
Mommy: "It's time to wash your hands so you can eat."
Aiden: "You got to be kiddin' me."
Aiden's favorite phrase right now is "come on". He is quite polite. He told me "Tank youuuuu" when I got his milk out of the fridge this morning. :)

Seems like everything he does either amazes, surprises, or cracks us up. Before his nap today, Aiden was watching Toy Story 2. His fingers were crammed in his mouth, and he was blowing with all his might. We're guessing he was trying to whistle like Woody on the movie. :)

We weren't very successful at taking a nice, official Christmas picture this year. Here's what we did get.

No, Aiden is not being tortured. :)

Fall 2010

It's been a busy fall so far. We're a little behind on the blog. What have the Barger's been doing? Well, we've taken family photos (by Simply Real Photography), traveled to the west coast, and celebrated Halloween. Enjoy our pictures!

Everything becomes a weapon. Must be a boy thing. :) Aiden has two sticks and is saying "Pow, Pow!"

Something exciting must have just happened. ;)

Sweet little boy!

For real?? Are we gonna take more pictures? :)

Playing Outside

Blowing and popping bubbles!

Aiden - September 2010

Aiden has been loving this cooler weather (at least less humid). We spend time out playing in the pool and sandbox. He started Kindermusik class a few weeks ago and loves it. He dances the whole time. Imagine a half squat and sway from side to side - that's Aiden's signature move. :) Aiden is starting to talk more. He says a lot of words, just on his time and when he wants to say them. He sings "Hi-Ho" and still says "Hot-diggity-dog". He is getting quite independent. He knows exactly what he wants and what he wants to do. Mostly this involves playing outside, going for walks in the subdivision, and playing with his cars. He LOVES cars! Here are a few recent pictures.

Aiden's First Stitches (he got three!!). Poor little boy! :(

We went to the Atlanta Aquarium and guess who we ran into - those cousin sisters! :)

Aiden found his winter hat box in the closet and had to see what still fit.

Enjoying lunch and milk! Yum!

18 Month Stats

Aiden went to his 18 month check-up last week. It wasn't really an enjoyable experience, but we did make some progress since last visit. Aiden weighs 27 lbs, 7 oz (70%) and is 31.25 inches tall (20%). I question the accuracy of the height measurement since he was twisting, kicking, and crying while we laid him down on the flat board to measure. I think he will do much better when they let him stand for height and weight measurement. Aiden now has 14 teeth!

Aiden loves to play outside even in the heat. He seizes any opportunity to go outside to play in his pool or watch (yes, only watch - he doesn't like the water hitting him) the sprinkler. He still loves throwing rocks and stomping bugs. He'll turn bright red and sweat outside and still not want to go inside. We take breaks to drink water and eat frozen fruit bars to cool down.

Aiden still loves his cars and playing ball. He's starting to repeat words and sounds. His favorite sayings these days include "Oh, wow!", "Oh, gosh!", "Baa" (the sound a sheep makes), "Hot dog", "Shhhh!". He's adorable!

Aiden - July 2010

Aiden has really enjoyed this hot summer so far. He still loves to play outside until he's red-faced and sweaty. Then we go in to cool off. He likes to play in the sprinkler when it only hits his hands, legs, and feet. Aiden loves to go to the park. His favorite thing to do is slide. Usually we slide down together. If I slide down first and wait for him at the bottom, he slides down on his belly. Here are some new pictures to see how Aiden has been spending the summer.

My 15 Month Stats

Aiden had his 15 month check-up and shots (Yuck!) last week. Here are his 15 month stats: 25 lbs 8 oz. and 30.75 inches tall. He's a little over average weight and a little under average height. It looks like the numbers are starting to converge. :) He got a good report from the doctor so that's good news. Like his one year appointment, he still hated the shots!

Happy Spring!!

We haven't updated in a while. Here's what Aiden's been up to. Aiden loves to play outside. He is really enjoying the warm weather. We took some trips to the park when it first started warming up. Now, he's not so much interested in swinging, but he wants to walk and explore everything. He likes to pick up sticks, acorns, rocks, etc. He has gotten so funny. He loves the simplest things. This week, he has played with two empty wrapping paper tubes. And, of course the wooden spoons... We were all a little under the weather on Easter weekend. Hopefully, the "official" cutie-pie Easter picture will be posted soon.

Trouble is my middle name! ;)

Aiden Running Wild

Aiden just got some new sunglasses. Mommy caught a picture during the two seconds he had them on. Right now, wearing the sunglasses is an off, on, off, on, off, on.... activity.

Aiden loves to play in our pantry. He'll sit in the pantry and open and close the doors while we work in the kitchen. A few days ago, Daddy caught him carrying a sweet potato around the house. I suppose he found it more interesting than the ball he left in the pantry in the potato bin. Here's a picture of Aiden peeking out.

Our Trip to Phoenix

Well, we loaded up early on February 14, got on a plane, and headed to Phoenix. Aiden and Mommy joined Daddy on his trip to the Precast Show in warm and sunny Phoenix, Arizona. Aiden did great on the plane. A little restless at times, but overall, our seat "neighbors" were very complimentary of the way he acted. We turned in frequent flyer points to get first class seats. We only had to pay $10!! for each ticket. Aiden took turns sitting in Daddy's and Mommy's laps. The extra room was great. Our trip got delayed by one day due to the winter storm in Atlanta. We actually left home at 5:30am and went to the airport on Feb. 13 only to load up and return home. After we arrived in Phoenix, we got checked into the hotel, and then headed out to Wal-Mart for shopping and Durant's for dinner. Durant's turned out to be an awesome restaurant. You actually enter through the kitchen. This was a little strange, but very cool. People are standing in the kitchen yelling a big welcome at you when you enter the door. Everyone was so dressed up, and of course the Barger's were dressed down from our travels that day. We finally figured out it was Valentine's Day, and all the couples were enjoying their special date dinners. They took a picture of the three of us and gave us a copy before we left. Overall, we give this restaurant five stars for atmosphere and food! While in Phoenix, we took a break between Daddy's meetings to go to the zoo. Mommy and Aiden had a great place to walk at an outdoor mall and park across the street from the hotel. The trip was very busy, but we had a great time! There were a lot of firsts on this trip - Aiden's first plane ride, Aiden's first haircut, Aiden's first carousel, Aiden's first time being forward facing in the car seat. Here are some pictures from the trip.

Aiden in the Snow

I bundled Aiden up and took him out when it first started snowing today. I don't know if he was more excited about the snow or his first time wearing mittens. He seemed to have fun, but he did not like the snow to hit his face.

Aiden's One Year Stats

Aiden and Mommy went for his 12 month check-up today. Aiden weighed in at a whopping 24 lbs., 4.5 ounces (71%), and he measured 29.25 inches long (31%). His morning didn't go so well since we had to get more shots today. He broke down as soon as the doctor or nurse entered the room. I think Aiden has now figured out that the doctor's office is generally not a pleasant activity. I have given him lots of love today, and we took advantage of the moderate weather to take a stroll. Tomorrow, we may take a stroll in the snow.

Aiden is taking more steps today, walking nearly half the length of a room. I feel our little boy will be running in no time. He is developing better balance every time he practices his walking. He even walks from the wood floor over the rug and back on the wood, which I think is quite impressive for a beginning walker. Stay tuned....

Aiden is ONE!!

You know what they say... time flies when you are having fun! Believe it or not, Aiden turned one on January 23! We celebrated with a carnival party. Aiden seemed to enjoy the excitement. He ate his cake just as we expected - cautiously and calmly dipping his finger in the icing. He didn't like the homemade carrot cake Mommy made him, but he did enjoy the cream cheese icing. Aiden doesn't really like textured foods, so I'll just say that is why he didn't like his cake. :) With turning one, Aiden has gotten a lot more active. He took his first steps this past week, and he is taking more and more steps every day. He doesn't take a bottle anymore, and today he had his first cup of whole milk. He is still fascinated with doors, handles, and the kitchen cabinets. He has his own drawer in the kitchen, but I think he likes playing in the other cabinets better. He loves to go outside. We take trips out on the warm days to stroll in his red wagon. It's a great workout for Mommy in the hilly subdivision. He loves to play ball with Daddy. They have a very active game of football/basketball/soccer every night.

Here are a few first birthday pictures.

Reecey Cups First Birthday

The one year mark is approaching quickly! I have to give Kelly all the credit. She has been setting up and planing Aiden's first birthday party. She has worked really hard and iI just wanted to thank her all her hard work.
